Ends: May 7, 2020 at 9:00 am
Rochester, MI (May 1, 2020) – The Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast Committee announced today that Dr. Klint Pleasant will keynote the 39th annual Prayer Breakfast ‘virtually’ on Thursday, May 7, 2020 beginning at 8:00AM. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic it is necessary to cancel the formal prayer breakfast, however, this year’s abbreviated event will be aired on Facebook Live, check the Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast website (www.rochesterareaprayerbreakfast.com) for further details and links to connect.
“Now more than ever, we draw strength in our faith, and while we can’t hold hands and pray together as a community this year, we wanted to continue the Rochester area tradition of honoring the National Day of Prayer,” said Craig Wolanin, the 2020 Prayer Breakfast chairperson. Wolanin went on to state that Dr. Klint Pleasant could not be a better selection for this year’s inspiration; he is a person of humility who honors God and celebrates our community.
Klint Pleasant currently serves as Sr. Vice President and Special Assistant to the President, as well as Athletic Director at Rochester University (RU). Dr. Pleasant’s roots are deeply planted in the soil of Rochester College (now RU); his grandfather, Lucien Palmer, was a founding father and eventually President, and his father, Garth Pleasant, was head men’s basketball coach for nearly 40 years.
Pleasant has led RU to multiple national championships and has been recognized as National Coach of the Year, Conference Coach of the Year, and also a Conference Coach of Character. Off the court, Pleasant managed Rochester University’s Office of Enrollment, overseeing the largest incoming freshman class in its 60-year history.
Dr. Pleasant is no stranger to adversity. In 2005, his wife Rachel underwent emergency brain surgery which she incredibly survived, though challenges continue today. Klint and Rachel have dedicated their lives to embracing the curve balls that life sometimes throws your way. For this year’s Prayer Breakfast inspiration, Pleasant will speak about Jesus being born into a global pandemic and how God shows us His love in difficult times.
The Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast is an annual, non-denominational event held in recognition of the National Day of Prayer, instituted in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress and then-President Harry S. Truman.
