The Rochester Christian University men’s basketball team signed 7’ 8” Robert Bobroczkyi in July 2020. Due to the COVID pandemic, Bobroczkyi went back home to Romania shortly after classes started last fall. He is back at RCU this fall and is working out with the men’s basketball team. He attended high school at SPIRE Institute, a performance training and education academy in Ohio. Bobroczkyi’s host family lives in metro Detroit, and when he began looking at colleges, the host family recommended he connect with RCU.

HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” recently visited campus to interview Bobroczkyi and Dr. Klint Pleasant, head men’s basketball coach, for an upcoming episode. The Real Sports episode will focus on “giants” in basketball. It will highlight three players, a former NBA player, a current NBA player and RCU’s Bobroczkyi. The episode will air on October 19, 2021.

“We are thrilled that HBO wanted to visit our campus,” Pleasant said. “Robert’s story is an important one to tell. Jordan Kronick, the producer, and David Scott, the interviewer, were a delight to work with. Rochester Christian University’s brand was also front and center, and we, of course, are excited as the show has millions of viewers. We hope that both Robert and RCU are blessed because of the national coverage.”
