UnCovered Theatre Company and Rochester University’s theatre department present Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare and directed by Christopher Owens.
Every summer, UnCovered Theatre and RU’s Theatre Department team up to produce the Rochester University Shakespeare Festival where professional actors and directors from around the country come to RU’s campus to perform some of Shakespeare’s best plays. Past shows include: Macbeth, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, Godspell and As You Like It.
This summer’s guest director, Christopher Owens, has been the producing artistic director of the Virginia Shakespeare Festival in Williamsburg since 2004 and has directed 160 professional stage productions from coast to coast. He has served as chair of the Department of Theatre, Speech & Dance at the College of William and Mary since 2013, was trained at the Juilliard School in New York (under John Houseman) and grad school at SMU in Dallas.
Evening performances of Macbeth will be July 6, July 12-14, July 19, and July 21 at 8 p.m. with a matinee performance on July 8 at 2:00 p.m. All productions will take place in the outdoor amphitheatre on the campus of Rochester University.
