Program Overview

If you’re interested in healthcare and helping patients, a bachelor’s degree in Health Science may be the perfect fit. RCU’s program provides a foundation for graduate and professional programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and pharmacy. 

It also may be used to prepare you for entry-level roles in research, medical or pharmaceutical sales, and other health-related services.

The BS in Health Sciences major has three tracks: Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Pharmacy, and Research Methods.

Pre-Physical Therapy and Pre-Pharmacy tracks are designed for students interested in pursuing studies at either a pharmacy school or a physical therapy school. This degree will provide you with the essential background and requirements to enter these health-related programs. Students should consult the requirements of the specific programs to which they plan to apply.

The Research Methods track is designed for students interested in careers in clinical research. You’ll be prepared to conduct professional research in health-related disciplines, including private, not-for-profit, and public sector research. Graduates will also be eligible to apply for admission to higher degree research studies, which can lead to a high-level research career.

  • Graduates will be able to apply content knowledge, critical thinking, and the methods of science.
  • Graduates will apply proper safety and ethical practices in laboratory, clinical, and work environments.
  • Graduates will be able to evaluate the validity of original research and the conclusions drawn from this research.
  • Graduates will be able to communicate effectively in written, oral, and visual forms.
  • Graduates will demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to respectful and ethical practices and treatment of others. They have considered their vocational goals and are reflective of how these may be embodied in their professional and/or personal lives.

  • General Education Core: 43-46 hours
  • Health Sciences Core: 26 hours
  • Health Sciences Track: Choose one
    • Health Care Management Track: 26 hours
    • Pre-Pharmacy Track: 29 hours
    • Pre-Physical Therapy Track: 22 hours
  • Electives and/or transfer credits from approved AAS: 24 to 52 hours
  • Pre-Health Society
