Katharyn earned her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan studying proteins that affect translation in E. coli. Prior to her Ph.D. work, Katharyn taught science at the high school level. Both the beautiful intricacy of the created world and the joys of teaching hold special places in her heart. Katharyn has a young daughter, Juliana, who helps her to keep seeing the world through fresh eyes. When time allows, she enjoys reading, music and various creative arts.
