Rochester Christian University appoints new School of Nursing director

Rochester Christian University has appointed Dr. John Collins as director of its School of Nursing, which is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. 

Dr. Remylin Bruder, RU provost, said, “Dr. Collins is a servant leader who is data-driven and is passionate about student’s academic success. His expertise, education and experience will be wonderful assets to our students and faculty.”

Before coming to RU, Collins served as program manager for veterans obtaining their bachelor’s of science degrees in nursing at the University of Michigan Flint.

“It is both a blessing and a privilege to join the Rochester Christian University community,” Collins said. “I look forward to growing our program as we educate students to become socially conscious nurses who will contribute leadership and clinical skills to the healthcare industry.”

Collins earned his doctorate, which focused on nursing education and cultural competence, from Duquesne University in 2019. He holds three other degrees all obtained at U of M-Flint: a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing in 2012, a master’s degree in public health education in 2011, and a bachelor’s of business administration degree in finance and economics in 1990. 

Collins serves on the editorial board for Wolters Kluwer’s thePoint and is a PrepU consultant. He also peer reviews for the International Journal of Palliative Nursing and the Journal of Nursing Management.
