Our audience favorite summer Shakespeare Festival has been renamed to… Shakespeare Upon Avon! Every July, professional actors and directors around the country team up with the students and faculty of the Rochester University Theatre Department to present an outdoor summer performance of one of the Bard’s greatest works. Inspired by the Globe Theater in London, these award-winning productions combine teamwork, imagination, and unconventional casting to bring you all of the energy, creativity, and fun that Shakespeare intended! Past shows include The Comedy of Errors, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and As You Like It. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy our lovely outdoor stage overlooking Lake Norcentra Park!

AUDITION NOTICE

Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare

Produced by UnCovered Theatre Company & Rochester University Department of Theatre & Music

Show Dates:

July 20-22, 27-29 at 7:30pm

Rehearsals:

Rehearsals will begin mid-June and will run Monday through Friday 6-10pm. Most weeks rehearsal will only take place 4 nights a week. The “Off” day will be selected based on actor availability.

This production is a part of Shakespeare Upon Avon, UnCovered Theatre Company & Rochester University’s award-winning Shakespeare festival. All performances will take place on RU’s outdoor set.

All professional actors will be paid a small stipend ($200-$300).

This is a Non-Equity production. We encourage performers of all ethnicities, race and age to audition. Additionally, we are open to nontraditional casting in terms of gender.

HOW TO SUBMIT: Please film a comedic Shakespearean monologue. Once filmed, your video file, headshot, and resume can be submitted through our Google audition form. We will also have you fill out some basic info about yourself and your availability. If you have any issues with the form or questions about the production, please email theatre@rochesteru.edu. We will be accepting submissions until April 30th. 

UnCovered Theatre Company prides itself on its creation of the first-ever outdoor theater on Rochester University’s campus. Nestled between towering trees and near Lake Norcentra and the Clinton River, the view is sure to invite audiences to enjoy many productions on this quaint outdoor stage.

We are seeking local unpaid summer apprentices for acting, management, box office, and technical positions. Apprentices will assist with set-up and tear down as well as marketing efforts.
